Best Call of Duty: Black Ops accessories

You've got the game, now get the experience
Best Call of Duty: Black Ops accessories

Black Ops. We know. The phrase has been singeing its way through your soul all day. Either that or you’ve already pulled some terribly obvious sicky to pick up a copy of the latest Call of Duty title at your local video gamery on the way home, before jumping into your big screen, bean-bagged den full of crisps, energy drinks and absolutely no natural light whatsoever. Good work.

The question you have to ask yourself - when you resurface some time next year to actually read this article - is: is (or perhaps was) your game den as complete for Black Ops as it should be? If you didn’t have any of this lot, it might be time to have a word with yourself. Voila, the best accessories for Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Stealth Mouse

This isn’t going to do you a lot of good if you play Black Ops on a console, but let’s remember for a moment where this series started, shall we? Yes, the PC - and Mac if you must - is where the purest would play Call of Duty and some would argue that no one with a game pad in hand is any match for the trusty keyboard and mouse combo, but you can argue that one out on the virtual killing fields.

The Stealth Mouse isn’t cheap at ?73.40 but it’s a dressed up version of the Cyborg R.A.T which is a 5600 dpi device with a moveable palm rest as well as 15 programmable modes to go with precision aiming and 35g of adjustable weights - all wrapped up in a sexy looking aluminium case. If that’s not enough, it also comes with a 1GB flash dog tag that lets you save your custom profile for COD tournaments and sessions at your pals when you haven't got your own pointer with you.

Stealth Gaming Surface

Okay, so it’s just a mouse mat but if you’re going to invest in the Stealth Mouse, you may as well pick up the Stealth Gaming Surface as well. The good thing about it is that it’s not just for people who play Black Ops on the PC. It’s also an accessory for console gamers to take to work and show all the people in the office what a hardcore gamer you are. Your choice as to whether that’s a good thing or not. ?14.57

X-Dream Gyroxus Gaming Chair

This one’s not specifically Black Ops branded, but it’ll certainly add a lot of fun to those levels where you end up piloting one vehicle or another. The X-Dream isn’t powered by motors or anything that’s going to run out on you. The idea is that it’s all driven by gyroscopes, so it’ll start swinging like a drunk Frenchman the minute you begin turning left and right, charge down runways or anything else. The manufacturers say it’ll take you closer to that all encompassing game experience. We say it looks like an amusing way to spend ?250.

Limited edition strategy guide

Not only does this mean-looking hard back make a rather desirable coffee table book, but it also gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you squeezed every single drop out of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The Limited Edition Strategy Guide features a complete step-by-step walkthrough of the entire game which includes exclusive maps for every single-player and multiplayer level.?On top of that there’s also tactical advice on how to take down each scenario, the locations of all the items and weapons in the game and there’s some rather attractive artwork too. Cheating? Perhaps. Fun? Definitely. ?12.39

Black Ops headset

The Black Ops headset is compatible with both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and has dual-decoding chips in the amplifier-box dedicated to making sure the 5.1 sound comes in, gets decoded and then recoded with Dolby technology to ensure you get the best possible reproduction over the two cans. Each backlit ear-hugger has an in-line connector with multiple controls and the whole thing is graphed up nicely with all the Black Ops illustrations to make you look and feel the part as well. It all comes in a neat and mean-looking carry case for you to take to your mates and rightly so at ?169.99

ProGaming Glasses

We're not going to sit here and try to convince you that gaming glasses work. The technologies on the product page certainly talk an interesting talk. There's fractyl lens geometry to augment screen detail and block air currents so that you eyes don't dry out so much and oleophobic and hydrophobic coating to make sure you don't get any finger prints and nasty sweat marks on the lenses either. Whether you reckon that's worth ?50 is up to you. What we think makes that price tag okay, is the fact that you'll be looking like Eugene Tackleberry while you play. The limited edition specs come with a?1GB dog tag USB Memory stick preloaded with the download code for Bradygames?Call of Duty: Black Ops?Mini guide.
