Notebook gets some serious audio tech

At HP's unveiling of its Christmas 2010 lineup of notebooks and accessories, we took the opportunity to get some early snaps of the new Envy 14 Beats Edition.

The slick notebook features a striking black and red design, along with a red backlit keyboard, and will come supplied with a pair of Beats Solo headphones from Monster.

The Envy 14 Beats Edition is an Intel Core machine with ATI Mobility Radeon HD(1) 5650 graphics and 1GB of dedicated memory.

The sound quality is simply fantastic, and nothing like the dreadful tinny speakers that you get on most laptops of this size. The volume goes up so loud, while maintaining sound quality, that it's entirely feasible that you could use the headphones as an alternative to laptop speakers (when they're not on your head, of course).

We'll give it a full review as soon as we can get our mitts on one.
